Laura Innes is an American director and actress, born on 16th August, 1957, in Pontiac, Michigan, United States. She is best known for her role on "ER" as Dr. Kerry Weaver. She was introduced by father to the professional theater, who often took the family to the Stratford Festival of Canada in the Stratford, Ontario. She was attending the 'Northwestern University', where Innes was the member of the 'Alpha Chi Omega' organization, where completed her degree in theater.

Laura Innes first stage debut were at the popular Wisdom Bridge Theatre and Goodman Theatre in Chicago, where she played in "A Streetcar Named Desire" as Stella. In this production John Malkovich, appeared as Mitch. Other well known stage credits such as at the La Jolla Playhouse in the "Three Sisters" in San Diego; at the Seattle Repertory Theatre in the "Our Town" and at Lincoln Center in the "Two Shakespearean Actors", she played along with Eric Stoltz.

In the year 1986, she appeared in the short-lived TV sitcom known as "The Stiller and Meara Show", in which she appeared as young daughter of the Anne Meara and Jerry Stiller, however the television series was cancelled with a few weeks.

In 1990s, she guest-starred on TV series such as Brooklyn Bridge, My So-Called Life and Party of Five and then she starred in the movie "And the Band Played On". Then she made a leading role on the NBC comedy TV series known as 'Wings', in which she appeared as Bunny, a promiscuous ex-wife of Thomas Haden Church. In 1995, Laura Innes appeared on the NBC medical drama series 'ER' in its second season, in which she stared as Dr. Kerry Weaver, who is a skilled but abrasive doctor. On 7th May, 2010, NBC announced Laura Innes would be starring as Sophia in the "The Event" drama series.
